Why EMDR?


Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process & heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. During EMDR, clients recall difficult memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sounds—which helps the brain reprocess the memory in a healthier, less overwhelming way.

  

Dr. John uses EMDR with kids, teens, & adults to reduce the emotional intensity of past events...helping them feel safer, more in control, & less affected by triggers causing anxiety or anger when painful memories continue to affect daily life. By supporting the brain’s natural healing processes, EMDR helps individuals move forward with greater resilience, clarity, & emotional well-being.

A: Sessions are structured & guided. You remain aware & in control while focusing on memories or emotions, paired with bilateral stimulation. Many clients describe it as intense but relieving.
