Dr. John began his academic journey at St. John’s University in Minnesota, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He then completed both his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College in Illinois. His formal training includes an APA-accredited internship at the Norfolk Regional Center, where he developed strong clinical competencies in a supportive, hands-on environment.
With advanced specializations, Dr. John serves as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), providing developmentally attuned interventions that help children and adolescents express themselves and work through challenges. He is also a Certified EMDR Child Specialist, trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma and distressing memories. Outside the therapy room, Dr. John enjoys working with his hands on home improvement projects, hiking mountains in Colorado with friends, and exploring the underwater world through scuba diving with his wife. A devoted family man, he and his wife of 20 years live in Norfolk with their two children, three dogs, four cats, and more than 25 chickens.
